Some Options to Consider

If you are in danger and need immediate help, get to a safe location, a friend or neighbor's, and call the Police. Get a witness if possible.
If you decide to leave the home, and have some time, take your personal property: clothes, driver's license, social security card, birth certificates, marriage license, etc. If you leave and are considering divorce, take the children with you if you want custody later.
If you are hurt, go to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. If possible, reveal the cause of your injuries and be sure that a doctor's written report is made and you are given a copy of the report. Have your injuries photographed.
If you have been beaten, you can press charges against your assailant, husband/boyfriend included. You may elect to sign an order of protection filed with the courts.
