What We Offer
What is the agency's mission?
The Crisis Center for Women's mission is to end domestic violence and sexual assult empower women and their children to live free of fear and harm within their families. The specific goals of the program include: providing a safe environment for battered women and their children; providing a supportive and flexible program, to serve the varied needs of our clients; promoting self esteem.
Objectives
- To provide education on prevention.
- To provide shelter and advocacy for battered women and their children and to provide counseling for victims of domestic violence as resources allow.
- To provide education on family violence through support groups, school curriculum, public speaking, media and resource center.
- To develop research in order to document prevalent domestic violence and rape in our community.
- To assist rape survivors with immediate hospital advocacy, counseling and shelter.
Service Impact
The ability of this agency to show how programs and service impact the needs of the community as documented under Community Needs and the effect of those programs upon the client population, i.e., quantity and quality of service.
Our services and programs have allowed 200 women and children in 2005 to obtain shelter and reestablish a new beginning for themselves. A recently awarded grant will allow city and rural policemen to be trained about domestic violence and to be able to offer more assistance and services when called to a disturbance.
Service Performance
The degree to which this organization's programs remedy or address the need for which they were designed.
Community Needs
The evidence of both met and unmet need as presented by the agency through items such as community statistics, waiting lists, and other related measurements.
These needs are reflected in the daily records kept by our agency
concerning the number of clients taken into our shelter and by the services provided for them through us and the other agencies networked within the city. Our agency continues to have a waiting list, as we cannot accommodate all the people needing our services. As many as 11 have been referred to other shelters in one day.
Financial Accountability
The ability of this agency to exhibit fiscal responsibility through the presentation of budget information.
A complete, concise, and projected budget is prepared by this agency's director based upon the expected income through grants and donations. This budget must be reviewed and approved by the agency's board financial committee and the entire board of directors. A yearly audit is conducted by an independent accounting firm in accordance with the Government Auditing Standards.
